Brett Lee,
Sounds (singer songwriter)
I am a Ngiyaampaa man from the Wangaybon Nation in western New South Wales.
I grew up off country next to the Pacific Ocean in a little town called Forster 300km north of Sydney.
I spent my pre-20s training to be an athlete, but at 19 a bicycle accident fractured my voice box and knocked some kind of magical musical sense into me. So at 20 I started playing guitar, singing and quickly began creating and crafting my own songs, which were influenced by people like Bob Dylan, Paul Kelly, Jack Johnson, Donavon Frankenriter and Bob Marley.
My songs are about my family, friends, love, the ocean and occasionally about how weird and sometimes cruel the world can be. Story telling is central to my live performances.
I’m keen to work with communities to turn their stories into music.
